Description: The Compass Project uses boat building as a creative pathway for providing positive direction to community and youth through the development of personal responsibility, teamwork, and environmental engagement. Our experimental STEAM education also integrates academic, job and life skills training for teens and adults wanting to explore new career pathways, and is also a great place for hobbyists to develop wood shop and boat building skills. If you like kids, boats, tools, social work, education, or helping others get on the water, we have volunteer opportunities too!
June 16 2022 Update: With heavy hearts, Phin and I have concluded that we are overwhelmed by the continuing impediments that confront a successful effort and are resigned to join the numerous other efforts that have thrown their hands up. For this reason, the 2022 Maine Boatbuilders Show is officially cancelled.
